honeycomb artIn this artwork ,titled “Burgundy”, Gail Gregg explores the possibilities of packaging materials , encaustic and abstraction. It looks to me as if she found a piece of cardboard, and painted thick layers of encaustic paint over it.

This piece is just one of a series that incorporate throw-a-way items, such as “chicken crate lids, cardboard packing forms, wine box dividers and plastic packaging”.  I am amazed at how Gail Gregg  creates beauty from these items and how she inspires me to look again at the world I live in and the trash that modern life generates.
