Heather Hutchinson is a talented New York artist who paints encaustic on plexiglass. The above painting, titled “getting there” illuminates the many possibilities of color, abstraction, and encaustic. I love how this piece blends so many colors, as softly as a lamb walking in new grass. There is color on top of the clear plexiglass surface, and I am guessing color behind it. I see color also reflecting up from the sides of the frame. This must be a spectacular piece to view in person! I imagine it in a quiet room, inspiring meditation and inner peace.
