Kim Bernard’s art captures movement and gestures. She compares it to “dance” and “whole body movement” with the result “being sumptuous abstract encaustic paintings that utilize a minimal color palette and repetitive imagery, thick layers of translucent and opaque wax, paper prepared with a batik markings and hand rubbed oil stick “. She also creates three dimensional work, as seen above, by combining lead and encaustic. Note how both works seen above include circles and a feeling of rolling, of time passing, and of movement.
