Women’s rights have only been achieved through protest and struggle. This painting depicts two famous women who led protest movements and risked their lives doing so.On the left, Malalal Yousafzai , (yoo-zahf-SAI), holds a teddy bear and an ipad. When this was painted, she was advocating for human rights and girls education.Maria Alyokhina is a member of the band Pussy Riot in Russia. Her protest songs against Putin caused her imprisonment.
