Susan B Anthony once said “Women are in chains and the sad part is that they don’t even know it….” This quote inspired the painting of a Suffragist who has lost her chains. The woman in the center of the painting is amazed. The blindfolds lift from her eyes, as she now sees the world with new eyes. She sees the world of possibility, instead of seeing the world through the constricted view of gender roles of the time. As her mind frees, the chains fall off her wrists and the blindfold falls from her eyes.
